Re Locust swarm: it's really hard to tell what kind of damage they're doing in that video. The Wall of Zombies is only listed as doing '15 damage' (I assume that means 15 DPS, but the zombies might attack more than once per second; I don't know) and the Moon Clan Warriors were dying on contact.

I didn't see any numbers for Locust Swarm, but it looks like 'Chain Inferno'. If we assume that the number of jumps scales with level, as well as DPS, it could get pretty scary for killing masses of weak enemies. I can't see it being useful for bosses (of any kind), and it's too slow to use when facing enemies that can, you know, actually hurt you.

The WDs could have ended the Siegebreaker fight in a hurry with summon+explosion. Judging by the damage each explosion was doing, it wouldn't have taken more than a dozen to bury it. The boss fight just wasn't very impressive at all - he's not fast enough, doesn't have enough health, and doesn't do enough damage. I'm assuming (hoping?) the devs were cheating or overlevelled for that video.

Did anyone notice how fast their mana orbs were regening?

As for classes, I'm pretty sure we can guess what the remaining three will be: a mage, a knight, and a rogue. I'd be really surprised if Blizz deviated from that classic standard.

Lol. Finally Poland has something at least 3 times cheaper than the rest ;d. Here, D2 + LoD are 50 zł, while $1 = ~2,4zł. So around $10-15 here. Niceeee.

But I already have 2 copies.

They're probably characters on steroids, it's not something uncommon when showing off your game.

Burst the reason the zombies were killing so fast is probably because they were top skill level. I don't think they'd usually just wipe out the enemies like that, at least not right away.

Don't. It will be less painful to just give up.

No, actually. That's what made it surprising. You can see the dev mouse-over the skill, and it isn't superbuffed or anything, and has an actual listed damage of just 15. So unless they were using a 'Power Overwhelming' instant-kill cheat or something (which seems unlikely, given that not everything dies in one hit), these monsters were just seriously weak.

I'm well aware that previews use tweaked characters, and that this preview was no exception. I'm just using the info we were given.

c. 7 frame hammerdins FTW!!! that and under 2 min nm cow charm farming with my poison nova nec that could break all immunities but one and do 9k poison damage in 2 seconds

I re-installed the game for 5 minutes, found all my accounts on west to be deleted due to inactivity, forgot everyone I knew ign's since account was deleted, so i promptly logged off and uninstalled it again

unless I can twist avarre and anyone else to start some chars on west ladder or hardcore west ladder

I was thinking of reinstalling, but I know both accounts are long gone.
It's also hard going back to 800x600 and stationary cameras. Hammerdins were fun pre nerf and after they got boosted again, but amazons were my favorite.

They're probably not using balanced character mechanics for the demo, and just supercharging their characters to show off effects.

Actually, that wall of zombies did 51 dmg to monster once, not 15. Download that huge 800mb trailer in high def, you'll notice that Barbarian also deals ~300-500 dmg each hit using a skill. In D2, such damage is possible at 40-50 level. A bit faster in 1.11b/12a, but still it's quite high level character. And since Deckard Cain appeared so fast, I assume this is 1st or 2nd act.

sigh so many memories of d2
especially d2c hc (classic for ever and ftw)
used to play on EU ladder before GW, got a 92 (4M from 93) ama IIRC 2nd ama 13rd overall

though one thing I'm now used to with GW is that loot is randomly assigned (not so random sometimes...), so no need to ninja loot ><
now back to old fashion ...

wtb oldschool telekinesis

I've never played WC3 or WoW (or gotten into the WC series for that matter), but visually, D3 looks very similar in structure to D1 and 2: i.e., a distant, 3/4 overhead, fixed camera angle, with a one-step zoom. I don't know if I like that layout, because while it does pay tribute to the previuos games and give you that feel of "this is Diablo", it also limits the visuals... I love the breathtaking site of a fiery sky and expansive landscape behind/ahead of your character. I was a huge D1 and 2 fan, but am withholding judgement until more is known... just like as with GW2. I absolutely love the lore of the Diablo universe though, just like that of Guild Wars.
